The Agricultural Development Association is seeking to hire a Plant Production Agronomist to work within the Home Gardening Project.
📍 Duty Station:
Khan Younis & Middle Area – Gaza Strip
🤝 Supervision:
The Agronomist will work under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator at the Association, in coordination and partnership with Mercy Corps.
🎯 Overall Job Purpose
The Agronomist is responsible for implementing the Home Gardening Project funded by the Occupied Palestinian Territory Humanitarian Fund (OCHA) and implemented by the Agricultural Development Association in partnership with Mercy Corps, following work plans, timelines, and donor technical standards. Responsibilities include providing technical guidance in plant production, applying best agricultural practices, improving crop productivity and quality, and supporting beneficiaries in developing their agricultural skills.
🗓 Contract Duration: 4 Months
🛠 Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct field visits to select beneficiaries and monitor plant production activities
- Provide technical guidance and support to farmers
- Follow up on home gardening activities and best practices
- Supervise crop production, plant health, soil and water management
- Prepare and follow up agricultural work plans
- Prepare periodic technical reports
- Ensure environmental and quality standards
- Deliver agricultural training sessions for beneficiaries
- Coordinate with the field team
- Support digital data collection using tools like KOBO Toolbox
🎓 Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering – Plant Production
- Minimum 5 years of experience
- Experience in home gardening or agricultural projects (asset)
- Knowledge of modern agricultural practices
- Computer literacy and digital data tools
- Strong communication and fieldwork skills
